Flowers with T

Aunt T always gives Liam lots of love. Here she shows him some flowers near her house. It's the last day of the trip. The photos might not do the trip justice -- we did a lot that wasn't mentioned here, including renaming Westbrook back to it's original name, Saccarappa -- suffice to say we all had a really wonderful time. Acadia National Park

Cadillac Mountain

We went to beautiful Acadia National Park to take a couple short hikes. Here we are on Cadillac Mountain, which has stunning views of the Cranberry islands.

The Harbor of Bar Harbor (Near the Bar)

There is a bar in the harbor at Bar Harbor. It extends to Bar Island during low tides.

We're not exactly sure what that means, but that night we had lobster in our room-with-a-view at the Bluenose Inn in Bar Harbor, Maine. This place was stellar; our room over-looked the islands of Bar Harbor, the hotel had an indoor and outdoor pool, the ladies enjoyed a spa treatment and best of all, the hotel lobby had a massive piano room and bar. Bar Harbor evoked the roaring 20s for Mark, as he imagined what it was like in Bar Harbor during that era; the old photos at the adjacent "Looking Glass" restaurant of society ladies attending parties in the late 19th century tickling the imagination regarding the decades between the Victorian era and the 1920s. Much of the Bar Harbor area is owned by the Rockefellers. The Great Gatsby could have taken place in any of them.

The piano player at the Bluenose, who we befriended during our stay, was a class act. He asked us if we had any requests. Mark asked him if upright-piano-style bar music from the 1920s would be inappropriate in the hotel. He said yes, it would be inappropriate but that wouldn't stop him from honoring our request.

We played Settlers of Catan while Liam slept on the floor. Meanwhile, the bartender brought us complementary cheese and kind words. Liam, you slept on the floor of a piano bar that overlooked the harbor in Bar Harbor.

Maura in Belfast

We drove north for an extended weekend trip to Bar Harbor, Maine. On the way we met Maura McLoughlin for lunch at a great vegetarian restaurant in the too-cute town of Belfast, Maine.
